Important upcoming meetings!

1. On Monday, October 19th at 7:00 pm Dr. Grimar Valdimarsson from
Iceland will be making a lecture to our members in the Nordic Room at the
Dutch Canadian Club, 13312 – 142 Street. His lecture will centre on how
fisheries and aquaculture have developed in the recent decades both in
Iceland and internationally. Dr. Grímur Valdimarsson is currently a Senior
Advisor to the Ministry of Industries and Innovation and before that to the
Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture. From 1997-2013, Dr. Valdimarsson was
the Director of the Fish Products and Industry Division of the Food and
Agriculture Organization of the United States. Edmonton is one of many
stops he has been making in North America. I am sure you will find this to
be a very interesting evening.

2. REMINDER – ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AT THE DUTCH CANADIAN CENTRE, 13312 – 142 STREET

SATURDAY – OCTOBER 17TH – MEETING WILL START PROMPTLY AT 1:00 P.M.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS – At last evening’s board meeting, it was reported that
some positions have opened up on the Board for this upcoming term. So
before you come to the meeting on Saturday, please give some thought to
allowing your name to stand for any of these positions:

Social Coordinator

* Regularly attends Board meetings;

* Ensures that all venues are booked within a timely manner;

* Ensures caterers are booked if needed;

* Ensures venue is completely set up before members begin to arrive;

* Ensures that entertainment is booked in accordance with the event
that is taking place;

* Contacts volunteers to participate in setting up and taking down
events;

* Maintains ICCE food cupboard and manages inventory;

* Coordinates the set up and taking down of ICCE events.

Casino Chairperson

* Regularly attends Board meetings;

* Reports to the Board regarding status of current applications to
AGLC and recent communications with AGLC;

* Discusses the need for new applications to AGLC with respect to
currently non-approved use of funds;

* Completes and submits paperwork necessary for new funding requests
and follows up with AGLC;

* Informs the Board of upcoming GAIN seminars, attends GAIN seminars
when needed and reports back to the Board;

* Responsible for the successful running of the Casinos which occur
approximately every 18 months;

* Responsible for the Casino application, license and hiring of
advisors for the ICCE’s casino date;

* Responsible for the recruitment and scheduling of ICCE members to
volunteer to work the two-day Casino including follow-up reminders to
volunteers;

* Responsible for arranging for snacks and meals for the volunteers,
cheques for the advisors and other tasks as needed for the smooth operation
of the Casino

Social Media Manager

* Regularly attends Board meetings;

* Responsible for the ICCE Website (more details can be provided by
our current Social Media Manager who will work with you during the transferof duties)
