Event Reminders

Do you enjoy talking to people and adding to your personal network of friends? Are you proud of your Icelandic Heritage or just love Iceland and want to share this with others? If you have answered yes to both or either of these questions, we have opportunities for you.

Event Reminders
Two more volunteers are required to join our team of Event Reminders. These volunteers work as a team to periodically call members to invite and/or remind them of upcoming events. The Icelandic Canadian Club host events throughout the year, including Thorrablot, Icelandic National Day, Leif Erikson Dinner, Annual General Meeting, and our Christmas Celebration where we need individuals to connect with a short list of club members. Please contact Barbara Beirnes at info@iccedm.org or for more information to volunteer. Come join us!

ICCE is seeking Alberta’s next Fjallkóna

Every third year Edmonton has the honor of selecting a person who will represent the Icelandic clubs of Alberta, as Fjallkona. This person is selected based on their involvement with and promotion of the Icelandic community and more importantly, the Icelandic Canadian Club of Edmonton (ICCE).

The ICCE Board is seeking nominations for a person who has been involved with the club; promoting our heritage and culture; helping out with events; participating in workshops and/or supporting the Board in some manner.

The Fjallkona will be crowned on June 17, 2018, Iceland’s Independence Day. They may be asked to attend functions in Calgary and Markerville so some travel is involved. The Fjallkona may be asked to do some public speaking and talk about their journey of discovery of the Canadian – Icelandic culture.

If you know someone you would like to nominate please send the information, including a brief description of the person to Donna Crozier, President ICCE at donnagc@datacardalberta.com. The ICCE Board will make selection and announcement of the 2018-2019 Fjallkona following the March Board meeting.

Deadline for submissions is March 15, 2018
